Camillia BenBassat is a designer and creative director who takes pride in developing innovative work that is always rooted in strong conceptual foundations which reveal simple and elegant design solutions. Her areas of expertise include: brand strategy and identity systems; interactive design, from comprehensive websites to iPhone and iPad apps; print design for books, magazines and corporate communications; and typography. A fundamental commitment to the spirit of collaboration as the cornerstone of the creative process makes Camillia, and her team at Avec, an ideal addition to our creative network at symbologie..

This belief in the collaborative process is also what led her to found Avec in 2009. A boutique design agency in New York City, Avec views each project as an opportunity to build long term, integrated relationships with their clients that encourage growth and partnership. Clients include Lerer Ventures, Gilt Groupe, The Thompson Hotels, Food52 and AOL, amongst others. The outstanding quality of their work is evidenced by a variety of honors and awards, including multiple Webby Award nominations.

Camillia’s work has been published in several books including “All Access: The Making of Thirty Extraordinary Graphic Designers”, “Graphic USA”, “Damn Good”, and “Design DNA: Logos” and others. Her agency’s work has received honors and awards including: Internet Retailer’s Hot 100 list for Bauble Bar; Webby Awards Honoree for Greentech Media; Print Magazine Regional Design Award, and Step Magazine Design 100 for the Elemental brand identity. Their work with Food52 was honored in 2012, winning the prestigious James Beard Award for Publication of the Year.

Prior to founding Avec, Camillia worked at international branding agency, The Brand Union, where she was an Art Director working with such clients as American Express, HP and Pernod Ricard. During her career, Camillia has also worked with companies such as Adobe, Discreet and Maverick Recording Company.

Camillia earned a Master of Arts degree in Communication Design from University of the Arts London, Central Saint Martins. She also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Industrial Design from UCLA.
