Andy Walton is a digital developer with more than a decade of experience. His core focus is on front end website and app development using HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript Technologies. Andy is passionate about responsive web design and creating user interfaces that follow simple, understandable, consistent and predictable contingencies and are viewable across a wide range of devices.

“I believe that great software should have great design.” As Andy sees it, while this may make the developers job more challenging, it ensures that the user’s experience is made easiest and most enjoyable.

Together with his wife, graphic designer Charlene Walton, Andy founded Cuie&Co. in 2011. A graphic design and web development studio based in Cape Town, Cuie&Co. offers bespoke design and digital service to a variety of clients both locally and internationally.  With a focus on conceptualizing what will attract the right audience for a given client and keep them coming back for more, the studio delivers sustainable design strategies that are simple, memorable and flexible.  Their clients include corporations, biotech companies, professional practices and institutions, as well as retail, hospitality, and start-up ventures.

Prior to founding their own studio, Andy spent six years as a consultant to the African Union and its various divisions, primarily NEPAD and CAADP, where he managed communication strategies. As the importance of digital communications expanded so did his experience with online publishing. In this position Andy began building websites and developing email campaigns.

As an additional creative outlet, Andy and Charlene founded BLANKspace in 2011.  BLANKspace is a gallery shop and on-line shop selling limited addition prints, letterpress stationery, gift cards and wrap.  Whimsical and quirky, humorous and charming, the gallery peeps out of a 100 year old building on Roeland Street in the newly designated Design & Innovation District in Cape Town, The Fringe.

Andy studied at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. There he earned a degree in accounting. His interests include cycling, mountain biking, craft beer, artisanal coffee and reading fantasy novels.
